It was brought to my attention that our DVD library is rather pathetic and since DS is NOT getting the $150 Harry Potter Lego set he thinks he wants (but would build and never play with again) I thought a few classic DVDs would be much more manageable gifts. Suggestions? Your favorites (He's 8 and has eclectic tastes)

What was I watching at that age?

Monty Python

war movies... I loved the Great Escape, Heartbreak Ridge....

I liked musicals a lot. And really old classics like Gone With the Wind...

And I liked just about anything where people got blown up. Old westerns, war movies, sci fi movies (I loved Battlestar!!!), mech cartoons, horror movies....

What's appropriate for that age?

Oh, I remember another, The Adventures of Milo and Otis.
I don't know, at that age I was either watching showed that weren't age appropriate or watching series on 'TV Land', such as I Love Lucy, Leave It To Beaver, I Dream of Jeannie, etc.

I second The Secret of Nihm, if it was anything like the books.
