Here's a link to a site about building a Pedal Powered Generator. It's similar to using a bike, but seems to be more efficient.


And here's one for converting stationary bike to a generator.

Here is a fascinating schematic for a battery charging bicycle using a 12V Ford alternator. Notice that no inverter is needed. The rear wheel is raised off the ground driving the alternator. A 49" V-belt takes the place of the tire. This prevents slipping, wearing out and overheating.
