When DS6 had a hamster, I kept a canning jar and screen lid near is cage. In case of bugout, scoop up hamster in jar, lid on and toss into backpack. Poor hamster! But I wouldnt leave a pet behind in a house fire situation if I had a chance at getting them out safely.

If I run to the door the dogs will follow me… barking… but they’ll follow me 🤣 but seriously now I’m thinking of what situations I would need to prep them for. My old dog is nearly deaf, that’s another consideration.

We have a kitten and a dog, hadn't ever thought about it.

Cat carrier is right by our bedroom door in the hallway. For the dog, put her harness on her and she would be good
