I kind of wanted to go with all recycled materials for my soap packaging, but it might not be practical. I may just print some labels to stick on my paper bands like you suggested. Especially if it sells well!

why not have a rubber stamp made? (or make your own)
the stamp itself can be re-used over and over all youd need to do is make ink pads out of vegie based dye or buy pre-made ink pads

I found this cool idea to make homemade stamps. I think it would be difficult for making text, but it work work great for my logo:

I have some stamps at work that come with letters to put in them so you can personalize the stamp...I might have to borrow them.

SNOW!!! I guess spring was just tricking us--ha ha, I'm not really here yet! We got dumped on last night. It was a very weird snow storm--it was lightening and thundering. How strange. I was late for work this morning becuase we had to dig ourselves out.

I am going to try making my own chicken stock tonight. I cooked the chicken last night and am keeping it on the porch--hopefully it doesn't freeze. I'm going to boil the bones with some veggies and seasoning and see how it turns out. I like to cook, but have surprisingly never made my own stock like this before. I thought I could boil some of the stock down until it's very concentrated and pour it into an ice cube try for boullion (sp?) cubes. Not sure if it will work or not, but I'll give it a try.

I am still snowed in. I am waiting for the snow to quit, then I will call our plow guy. Our problem is that we are in the middle of a farm field with no wind break and we just drift close. All the snow collects between the house, garage and pole barn. There is a drift about 1 1/2 feet deep surrounding the car. And yesterday, I was almost stuck in some mud near the garage. Maybe we will be able to build a snowman in May again like we could last year

And I just came in from digging out the hose that directs the sump water away from the house. Last thing I need is for the sump pump pipe to freeze up.

I had a rough week with my 9-year-old. He has strep-throat, so I was home Monday-Wednesday with him. But, it did give me some extra time to work on my soap labels, and I finally finished them. I made a stamp out of a couple large erasers. I used an exacto knife to carve my design out. It was very easy, and I like the look they gave my labels.

I really enjoy gardening and raising plants, and I always thought that I was pretty good at it. Apparantly, this spring my green thumb turned moldy though. I have been trying unsuccessfully for the past few weeks to start some watermelon plants inside, but they keep dying!

I have been starting the seeds in a heated tray. They sprout beautifully, but once I move them to their own pots, after a couple days, they fall over dead. Well, at least the snow finally melted enough for us to open the greenhouse door.

I was very successful with starting my plants in the greenhouse last year. So, this weekend we will clean it up and hopefully get started! My hubby has some plans for heating it this year. Something about tanks of water heated by the sun. He explained it to me, but I'll understand it better once he builds it.

So, I am going to put aside plant propagation until this weekend. Tonight I plan on trying a new recipe for homemade deodorant, and I need to make my husband some more aftershave.
