Can y'all please take up a love fund for me? Challenge!

Impressive!!
Ours was 108.48, we use gas for the water heater only. We have a well and use electricity to pump the water for our field.
It was actually less last month, but the power company came and "fixed" our gas leak and then the gas usage went up on the next bill

We have only had a few cherry tomatoes as well. It has been rather cool this summer, so far.

I congratulate you if that is a good one for your area, Sally!!! :) I know that folks who live in hotter climes have a hard time with electricity in the summer.

But I must tell you that I have been moaning and groaning all summer because I can't keep mine below $55 anymore....we used to regularly have bills of $17-$38 all the time and I was getting used to that number.

The boys are hard on the electric bill.... :(

Under $55????? WOW!! :bow

I'm pretty sure most folks around here have low (not as low as yours!) e-bills. Everything here is electric including the hot water heater etc. I just don't use much of anything during the day tho. Our daily temps are hovering around 75, no humidity etc during the day and in the 50's at night. The house doesn't even warm up till 2:00 then the temps outside begin to drop.

I'm so used to $3-400 e-bills May - October back in TX, this is the first time I have ever laid eyes on a bill so low.

$300-$400!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :th :ep :barnie

How does one afford that? How could anyone EVER afford that on a regular basis? My rent is only $375!!! :P

This house stays remarkably cool in the summer and warm in the winter for an old farm house. I've heard there is sawdust in the walls for insulation.

Everything here is electric also and my water pump kicks on if the toilet leaks...and it does. I don't use an air conditioner and we heat with wood, so this probably keeps everything pretty low.

We also have most things on power bar strips and use CFLs for all the lights. Everything that draws phantom loads is turned off via the power strip.

I used to live where all the utilities were very high and it didn't occur to me to do something about it but since I moved here, I actively looked for a place that would keep utilities down...where I could heat with wood, cool off with a fan, NOT be on city water and sewage.

Man....I can see where you are dancing in the aisles, Sally, at that low of a bill after what you are used to paying!!! :clap :clap :thumbsup

My hydro bill is $160 on equal billing. So that means $160 EVERY month. And I have a gas stove and hot water tank. :barnie

Congrats on yours though, (she says sarcastically)

no seriously, good job!! :thumbsup

Holy Moly, I thought my $260 was low last month. I can't wait to see my bill for this month. In the middle of a heat advisory, temps over a 100 everyday with heat indexs pushing the feels like meter up to 107 to 112 degrees. Yep, if my bill is under $300 I will be lucky.

I don't have any tomatos. Mine are all canned and the plants are burned to a crisp in this heat.

WOW!!! Thats awsome!!! I'm on fixed billing as well, $70 a month, every month. We just got on that program, though, and its usually around $150 or $200 a month in the summer. This summer is horrible due to the excessive heat. We've not done a thing as far as converting this house to SS because we're still looking for land and plan on moving.

My bills are between $46 and $63 a month, depending on using the A/Cs, right now. In the winter they top off at about $78. I do have propane hot water, and heat by oil, but the propane tank only gets filled every four months or so, at about $250 a fill, and I use 2.5 tanks of oil a year. This is a pretty inexpensive house to run, thankfully.

My electric bill has come down considerably because of not using the dryer. That's a huge savings right there!

We're at $155 on an equal bill budget type plan. It's nice to have it that way. Anyway, this is for a pretty big house and running a pool in the summer. We also have a gas bill, which budgets at $130, but the amount is way high so there are usually a few months in summer near the yearly re-set date when the gas company tries to even it out and we pay almost nothing. I'm OK with that.

Electric in Ca is so much more than gas. I got my bill the other day and we used 43% less than this time last year. It has been so unseasonably cool here I have not turned on my ac at all. Good thing though cause I really can't afford a 450.00 per month electric bill this year.

Instead it was in the 120.00 range. My gas will be up next month due to canning. But that's wort it.
