Coffee's Ready, Come and Sit on the Porch

Coffee is ready. On my second cup. Normally on “roof work day” I’m out the door before 6:30, to do chores before getting on the roof. Ain’t gonna make it….. new time at least for today, is 7:00. It’s cloudy, high today of only 93F. I’ll be rolling out radiant heat barrier and laying down 2x4s for lath strips. I want to get the back side of the house ready for metal by Saturday, when I’ll have help getting metal on the roof.

Hot tea this morning. got almost 3" of rain late yesterday and overnight! It's WET out. . Glad I got that field cut back yesterday...about 3acres. No farm work today, too wet. Not complaining, needed with this heat. Sorry you guys needing and not getting.

Picked a nice big bowel of greens for a salad yesterday morning, and we added some of that roaster chicken to it for dinner.5 day old chicks are back intermingling with the 2week olds-- the 2 momma hens are working good together--The adult chickens are PIGS, they want, as did all my past flocks, the baby food
I even gave them their OWN container of it ,, but as all kids do, " NO I want Hers!!"

On to my next task-
getting all those herbs dried out and bagged up, Working on it,,
HOLY COW--Shall I give up on dusting until late September,, what's the point with all of the windows open ??No I have to dust-- coughed all night, it really messes with my asthma-going in the coop isnt helping--
the hens think they need to dust bathe in there and NOT out in the run- I think I'll close all of the windows and wash down the screens, play in the water hahahahah later when its to hot do do anything else

DH has been working on this winters fire wood and knife making for a Fall knife show ,

No where near us---On Monday, the Southeast Washington Interagency Incident Management Team said the fire is 533 acres and 5% contained. That’s more than triple the size officials estimated Sunday afternoon.

Happy Independence Day

Right along the Columbia River. We've had stronger than normal afternoon winds, but there in the gorge, which is a kite sailing and wind surfing dream, its a monster wind!

When I was up there on a Paper Mill (Wallula I can't remember) the winds could get wicked. Often working at 60-80' on top of something or just wide open you could watch the storms roll in and couldn't do anything about it. Neat to watch though.
Hope the fire gets contained quickly. With the Columbia on one side that does help with the spread that way.

Welp, my kids stole the TV, snuck it to DS16's room and stayed up half the night watching movies. Must have done it the night before too bc yesterday DS16 slept in until 10 and complained about being tired all day

So they're doing chores all day instead of going to the family party. DS8 is getting a crash course in folding laundry.

good job mamma! rules are rules, as I said to mine-- you can choose, do what I say= the easy way or choose the hard way= hard for you but not me, my "no" stands and tears do not affect the outcome, its still "NO"

Home safe and sound. Hit some heavy rain heading down Saturday, bad storms danced around us Sunday/Monday, surprisingly light traffic today. Back to the salt mine tomorrow

Watching the July 4th on TV. Freedom Over Houston! Thousands of people watching the entertainment, they look hot and sweaty. Chris Young is singing now, his shirt is dark with sweat. Other singers were dripping sweat, it’s just plain hot. Me? I’m in my recliner, AC blowing, cool and comfortable.
