It's a boy and he's a fast little guy :) two more to go still.

Edit... I take that back, the calf is most definitely a girl. FB and I walked out into the pasture to go see her. When we were leaving, FB said shes following you. It's true, she tried to follow me out of the gate. That's what I get for scratching her soft hair on top of her head. She has a full wrap around white belt.

I'm quoting myself because I was right both times. Oreo had a boy and a girl, neither one of them made it, I burried both calves today. It's rather sad and a little upsetting at the same time. But it was just one of those things that happens. I first seen the boy and I knew he had a sack hanging, then I seen the girl and she didn't have any sack. Both calves looked identical to me and I thought I was mistaken. Both calves were small.

Edit... I just read twin calves are rare 1-2% of pregnancies. The female twin is sterile. I also read about the complications. I can say the complications are real.

On a more happy note, daisy moo delivered her calf today unassisted. It a larger calf and appears to be healthy and with a wide belt. Not sure if it's a boy or a girl yet.

Defrosting the freezer is today's big chore. Everything in coolers and I'm just waiting for the ice to rot enough it breaks off easier

I cheat and use a garden hose, after it's been unplugged for a few hours.

It's in the house or would absolutely do that. Dad has a mini fridge/freezer that Mom was trying to defrost outside last year. It was pretty solid and she complained. I told her to hose it. She did

@CrealCritter im so sorry about the lost calves. It’s just one of the things about having livestock. You just have to take the bad with the good. I look at it this way;
I’ll take the losses, I’ll take the hits, I’ll take the heartache, because the joys far outweigh the sadness of loss. If I quit because of the losses, I’d miss all the joys.

And right after the loss of the twins, you had the joy of another beautiful calf being born.
