I slept so deep last night, and I slept late....

Back on Saturday some neighbor... maybe a quarter mile or more away, across swampy ground too... lost track of their dog... who ran up to my place and slaughtered poultry...

Still missing 3 or 4 young muscovy girls... they panicked and flew far...

Anyway, it all started at maybe 3:30, and by almost 9 we called it done. Son #2 dispatched all the mangled but still breathing ones... we just chunked them, neither of us wanted to process... and then 3 of the ducks flew down to the church pond which is large and deep and surrounded with nasty swampy mess. We had to use the salmon dip net to get 2 of the girls.

For hours we were missing one of the geese. And these are LARGE American buff.. these can barely get 2 feet of lift. And then miraculously the missing girl, right before 9pm, in close to pitch dark (because it was cloudy and drizzling), as we are all giving up and going home... there she stands right at the front door of my house. I am sure it is because a friend of mine was praying hard that we wouldn't lose any geese. That man really likes my geese!

So... I didn't sleep well Saturday night... then Sunday night I didn't sleep well because Monday morning I went in for cancer screening, but nicely that came back all negative.

A neighbor thought she saw 3 muscovy girls flying down to the church pond Sunday night... but my son, daughter-in-law and I couldn't find them.

I think I acclimatize to the cold too fast. Thought my fridge felt too warm inside and started freaking. Temped it to see how warm it had gotten. 34°. I actually need to turn it up a bit.

I got confused down at Mom on Saturday. Couldn't get the cold water to run cold. Mom had to remind me it's not well water, but city water that's run through a treatment facility. It used to be from the city well right there on the townsite and was cold. Had too much fluoride in this particular well, but tasted sweet. City has 4 wells. The nitrate contaminated water table is why it's all treated now.
