My dad was always very practical. He still would be if his brain worked right.

He was one of 10 children born to a "truck" farmer (we would call him a market gardener these days). If you weren't sustainable and practical ... you didn't eat.

really, not a bad way of doing things i think there would be less people around if more families had to feed themselves this way

BTW, not sure if I did this yet or not. Thank you for the Osage Oranges. I've had them outside since I got them they have been through several snows, melts, freezes already whoo hoo! hopin for the best!

Ugly looking "brain fruits" aren't they!

Do a search for Osage Orange. They make bowls, furniture and some of the best hunting bows out of them. In addition to fence posts.

I hear you on the decluttering. I attempted to clean and sort some stuff out of my dh closet last weekend. That man is a clothes horse. It was very hard for him.

yeah, its starting to shape up a bit. We definitly are planning a garden. I had to go through and pare a $300 seed catalog order down to under $100 I think I managed to pare it down to varieties that will do decently in our soil/weather especially if I help them along with the use of containers and such

I know how that seed thing goes. First I said I was only planting things I had, then I was only ordering things I didn't have, now I have about 25 new packets of seeds and need more space to plant them.
