Compost pile went cold. Does it look finished? Still moist, gave it a turn. But it heats up less and less everytime. Never seen it cold before tho

I'd let that pile sit a bit longer, so it can break down further.. I can't remember if you said you have comfrey around or not, but a tea made of comfrey leaves will act as compost activator and speed things up a bit.

A couple months ago it was just leaves and kitchen waste. I added a couple wheelbarrows of chicken manure and grass clippings and it got hot fast and broke down to this. Still not the black dirt looking stuff yet tho.

Maybe its done heating and just needs a couple months to age?? Idk its my first time. I dont know what comfry looks like so i have no idea

It may not be FINISHED compost, but it looks like a lovely addition to soil just as is... or as an excellent mulch on top

Thats the plan. To add a layer of this and another layer of wood chips.

That's a good idea. It will break down further under the wood chips and make a lovely compost for you in the garden.
