Covered litter box

Walmart wanted $24.95 for a small covered litter box. They had some Plastic "Toy Chests" about the same size for $4.95. Guess what is now the new covered litter box! Cut a round hole in one end (used a plate as a guide and a solider iron) and a couple of slits on top. Works just as well!

Sweet! I use some 18 and 40 gallon tote bins for my cats(no top).Souns like that toy box would make a great nest box for the hens.

Ya, really. I have a $30 covered litterbox, and a tote for the other one. They both work about the same.

If you don't live where it gets real cold, it would probably work for nest boxes. I wouldn't trust that type of plastic in freezing cold though.

My buda box is holding up well in the metal shed.Probably the 2 or 3rd winter now. I am getting 2-4 eggs a day.They won't use any other box I put in.Here it is in the woods under the tarp.I move my hens there in the summer due to the poop/fly issue.

Not to be gross but last week I walked in on my one cat,and noticed she pees standing up.No crouching in the box!. Tail up and out it shoots!. Thank god for the tall tote box.If I had a regular littler box my walls would be dripping,and dh would be screaming rehome.
