Ok... here goes, for years my husband has asked me to make him a cowboy shirt. His bithday is Aug. 5th. I have all the stuff now to make the shirt. (I have had it for weeks actually) I am just not confident in putting on snaps and doing all the top stitching, to say nothing of having it fit him when I am finished! It is not that I can't do it, I know I can do it.

Off I go, to cut it out! He made it easy for me even, he picked a light blue Chambray, no plaids to match up, no piping or fancy stuff. For the next three days I am sewing!!

Since for years he has been asking me to make it for him, this morning he said "I will probably die in the next 6 months, since I have wanted this shirt for so long!"

I made mine a Hawaiian type shirt years ago. He still wears it on occasion. I think it is the first and only shirt with color and buttonholes I've ever done. But I survived~

Good luck!!

If you find that you are having trouble with it fitting right, here is a trick I learned, that does not require to much equipment.
You need a well fitting shirt, freezer paper and the front and back pattern parts.
Lay out the paper, then lay the shirt on top. Trace the shoulder line and the side seam out.
Then swap the shirt for the pattern piece.
Now you can make adjustments to your pattern so it will fit well.

Read the intructions and look at the pictures. Just take your time and don't get stressed . Snaps are so easy to do would rather do snaps than button holes. You know you can do it :thumbsup

I am using a couple of his old shirts to help me with fitting the pattern. (He has put on some weight since quitting Martial Arts a few months ago) I am having to add a smidge. This pattern has really wide sleeves, and I will need him home to make sure the cuffs fit properly.

Well, I got most of it cut out. Now I have to go to Hebrew Class, that cuts into my sewing time! I will be up late tonight for sure!
