Cucuzza Squash

Anyone here grow Cucuzza? If so, how do you preserve it, by freezing or canning? I'm assuming that it can be cut and frozen like any other squash, but I've never tried doing so.

We picked our first this past Thursday and made a casserole with shrimp. Dang that was good! My family grew these when I was a young pup (40+ years ago), and this is the first that I've grown since then.

Your link took me to a myspace page asking me to log in. and since I don't have myspace....

I have not heard of this type of squash, but all the sqauash I grow stores nicely in my garage. :)

Sorry for the link problem. I had a brain f*art and used the wrong option.

Thanks for the info. We usually slice our summer squash and freeze, but I had not tried freezing this type before and would hate to ruin it.

You can eat it? We always dry ours over the winter in the garage and then sand them and use for crafts.

There very good to eat and can be prepared a number of different ways. The young leaf bunches on tip end of vine (I can't think what they are called at the moment), can be cut off and eaten as a salad green also.

The two large ones in the photo are about 3 ft. long, and they do sometimes grow longer and more thick.

ETA: I finally remembered what the name of the young leaf bunches on tip end of vine are called, Tenerumi.
