Culturing yeast and bacteria could be an important skill for a SHTF situation. Not only would it be nice for trouble-free yogurt making and bread baking, it may also be useful for producing antibiotics and other things that we normally depend on Big Pharma to provide.

Here's a little tutorial for saving brewing yeast cultures for years at a time. I thought it might be useful to survivalist and penny pinchers.

can also be found in "the joy of home-brewing" book and "the Alaskan bootlegger's bible", both new are about 20 bucks used 3-15 bucks.
