Wohoo! Finally, interesting things have happened!
In the midst of this mid-week storm (this is what, the fifth time? :/), spring is beginning to take shape in our minds!
We're planning a new chicken coop! We're going to convert an old 12x12 horse stall into a super-coop that can hold sixty birds! Why so many birds? We are currently going through an egg DROUGHT that has brought us down to 2-3 eggs a week.
We have ordered the chicks, they're arriving in late April. Mostly barred rocks, Rhode Island Red, and Leghorn, but also Buff Orps, Sussex, Delaware and Dominique!
Also, getting the garden planned out for next year is a blast! We're both downsizing and upsizing. Trying fewer new things and sticking to the basics, but more of it. Carrots, peas, potatoes, onions and squash galore!
And I truly believe I have the greatest herding dog ever to walk the earth. Our annoying goat, Millie, tried to escape from herding practice into the cow pasture (which has the entire brood herd, bulls and new mothers included). Now, Puppy has always thought of cows as PLAYTIME, but today, I told him to go after the goat, and he went right into that herd and, ignoring all the stampeding cattle, quickly and efficiently brought me that goat.
Let's see those trial-champion border collies do THAT!
