All is well in chickland!
brood #1 is 2.4 weeks old
and brood #2 is 1.1 week old, that are getting along great, both mammas have a parenting system
Broody hen #3 slept to hard on and egg and broke it, so she is down to 4 eggs from 6

I end up breaking all of the ones I put in that "protector" and the hatch rate is also terrible.

they go down the other hatch so the hatch rate would be nearly 100%...

Well, I went in and checked on her #3 right away when we got back from church,,, she crushed it,,, and it was a very rotten egg.
I read that a hen will kick bad eggs out of the nest, they can feel the heart beat and thats about the time they start talking to the eggs, about 10 days after the first day of setting on them,,
