I've decided -- 5 pullets, 3 roo -- from incubator hatch. 3 pullets, 1 roo (?) from hen hatched. Then 4 pullets I bought 6 wk ago.....so, a dz new layers for winter!! 😁👏. Perfect.
Corrections

8 from incubated...6 pullet, 2 roo.
4 hen hatched...2 pullet, 2 roo
3 just hatched...2 pullet, I roo

Great...makes 10 new layers, assuming all survive until then....plus the 4 bought BOs. 14 eggers.

Same for BOs purchased, 4 pullets, 1 roo. They are doing very well, lovely birds. Nov they should start laying, brown eggs. Some of the incubated 6 will be POL Dec...brown, blue & green eggs. The just hatched will begin Feb/March....green prob.

That's the end of this years renewables. 😊 I need to start finding 1) egg buyers or 2) laying hen buyers. At least only 5 roos to stock pot. And still have my 14 current layers, 2 y/o & beyond.

Chicken math!!!! 🤪

Surprise! 4 pullet eggs today 😁. 4 BO girls in there but not sure how many laid. All are red combed & same age, so all will be laying this week. Didn't look yesterday, I'll know more in a few days. Nice & just in time.

Three more hatched here will age out in Nov; 4 more Dec. By then old hens will be out of molt but prob few eggs until spring with age. 🤷

Fresh eggs for winter anyway!! 😄

I have a few silkie pullets running around. One started to lay a couple weeks ago and I've got two more that are close. Unfortunately, the one that just started has laid 10 eggs and is already trying to go broody, lol. I've kicked her off the nest twice today. Might have to put her in a wire pen. I want eggs!

At least she laid a few before going broody. I've had some skip that part
