Egg totes

Very well done! I agree with Tankshill - I bet some of your egg costomers would buy those with their eggs. If/when my girls ever start laying again I will make use of this idea, if I may. I don't ever have enough to sell, but I sometimes give away a few to friends, when the girls are in full swing.

Unfortunately, SD I made it up. I can try to figure out a pattern and let you know.

Does anyone know where I could get a pattern to this?
I was thinking the same thing. You could figure out the pattern, and sell that as well as the finished product.

My mom is an expert seamstress and enjoys challenges. I hope she likes the idea of figuring this out for me. She is elderly but extremely sharp. My grandmother was an excellent seamstress as well...

Somehow the talent skipped a generation with me. I can hem pants. I can technically sew and made a baby quilt for my middle child while I was nesting and pregnant. Other than that I usually just sew on buttons!

But I think she and I will work together on a pattern. I'll make sure to share it on this thread and some photos if/when we get it figured out.

We do not have many notions places around and not too many fabric choices. I was wishing the livestock food bags came in something cloth so I could use them and the materials would be free. But they seem to be made of plastic for the most part. So I'm thinking instead of looking for red and white checked tablecloth type fabric, wouldn't that be somewhat cute? And perhaps muslin.

I love it! I've been trying to come up with an idea to help my son safely gather the eggs. This morning I found two eggs in his coat pocket (again!). Thankfully, our chicks lay eggs with thick shells. Hope you don't mind if I copy your idea. We're expecting a snow storm tomorrow. A good day to stay inside and sew ;)

No I don't mind. I am working on one that can carry 12 eggs for customers. I'll keep you posted.

They will be awesome for egg collecting! I plan to use my prototypes that don't work out for egg collecting and then use the nicest ones I make for customers I sell to, because I can wash these.

Thats such a great idea. I need one of those. I am tired of breaking half of my eggs before i get them to the house. Carring them by hand is getting old....lol

Don't you know, you're supposed to put them in your pocket! That way, when they break, there's not a big mess to clean up.
