Energy Tax Credits available for windmills and more

Bumping this because I wondered if anyone took advantage of the energy tax credits. Were there any snags?

We @got 2-3K off a heat pump hot water, all electric house system from the gov't here, but I'm in Japan, sorry.

Congress extended many of the credits until December 31, 2010.
A 30% credit for solar energy systems through 2016,
Plug-In Hybrid Conversion kits until 2011:

That looks like a great savings. Are those priced similar to those sold in the US? I have always had the impression that island nations pay somewhat more for everything.

Yeah they are more expensive even though they're made here so, yes we do pay more, for most everything.

The credits on the vehicles are nearly the same though. The Mitsubishi MiEV plug in EV is now available, 40K. After credit it's 30K, yikes. Not nearly reasonable.

I'm wondering if EV's will ever be affordable in my lifetime.

EVs are out of my price range.

There's a big legal battle brewing in my state over the tripled rate hikes for all electric homes. Grandfathered in permanent rates are now being adjusted higher and then phased out:
