Well so far I have gathered a few seeds for fall. I have make, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, and root crops: rutabaga, beets, turnips, carrots, radishes and parsnips. What else is good for fall in Texas? I have a lot of space to fill!

What about herbs? Will they do ok in fall? Suggestions?

Thinking quick… rosemary, thyme and origanum is quite hardy and all nice herbs.

In your weather, probably a crop of peas. If you eat greens, collards, kale, etc. I love them -- so do the goats & chickens.

Remember to fill a few rows for the chickens, rabbits. My chickens loved turnips. Seeds are not generally expensive for these type things and they can be used for animal feeds.

Someone said green beans will do well in the fall. Have any of you tried it? It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to plant legumes where the corn is now to help repair the soil.

Will lettuce grow in a couple months? I got 2 kinds of kale. Thinking of planting spinach as well

I'm thinking I may plant black eyed peas where the corn is right now. We love em and the internet says beans are a good follow up to corn. Do you guys rotate crops?

Even in the pots I rotate. Reduces pest problems.

The soil in my wheel barrows will get dumped in a raised bed next spring and I'll use new in the barrows if I do tomatoes and potatoes in them again. Blight is a horrible problem here and it's harbored in the soil
