FarmerJamie - A new beginning

If you can cover the trap it won't spray! Then you can move it a safe distance and we can figure out how to release it.

I'm still looking for a solution for NOW but that last link is how not to catch a skunk in the first place when you rebait and reset the trap ;)
hmm, these were basically the approaches I was going to take. Maybe I have more country smarts than I thought.... :) thanks for the reassurance. I've been walking out to the trap and talking softly to the critter about every half hour to hopefully condition it.

You've got pretty good country intuition ;) I think you won't have to kill the little beastie if you follow this. It's a good sign that you can get so close and haven't been sprayed yet, so I think you could pull this off. :)

Got a piece of old garden fabric over the cage. Mr Skunk did not appreciate it. :sick The fabric took the damage, I can't smell any on me, but the odor is still in the nose cavity. :sick

I'll give a little while to calm down.

The hens are a little upset.....

ugh, DS just discovered I have a small bit on the back my shirt......... :sick

Shirt is already in the washer with the baking soda.

Cledus T Judd did a parody of the Dixie Chick song, "Earl's gotta die" with "That squirrel's gotta die". Maybe SavingDogs can filk me a version of "that skunk's gonna die."
