I was just wondering why there wasn't a specific sub heading in the index for gardening/farming? Wouldn't the first self sufficient thing anyone could do is grow their own food? Just a thought.

The idea has been floated before, but the concern is that we would get duplicate information that is more appropriately posted on the other sites.

I wanted an animal section when we first came here, but it was voted down. Now they lump all that under the food section. I know, I know.....we don't always get what we want! :p

We just do the best we can and try to sort through all the info posted to find what we want. At least we are smaller here and you get a pretty good response to all natural or organic topics than you do at BYH and BYC. You might say we are more INTO that sort of thing and you won't get slammed for even suggesting not giving meds to your livestock.

Amen, sister! :D  ;) We don't like nasty here. We have a community and we come to share info, support each other's ideas and have some fun.

MorningDove, we will have more pull in that direction when we get our membership up. Until then we try to pull in like-minded folks like yourself off the BYC and swell our numbers. :)

Of course no one should slam anyone here - or I'll slam them! ;) However, my vision for discussions here embrace all things sustainable and organic, and I hope that is the direction we continue to head in.

We definitely prefer to encourage members to visit the sister sites to post their questions there, but we definitely don't prohibit those discussions from happening here.

Regarding slamming: While we try to have a bit more of a relaxed moderation style here, we do have rules of conduct and mutual respect.

The bottom line is this: We'll moderate less if we have less reports and problems to deal with. So, if everyone is respectful in their replies and patient / thick-skinned while reading, you probably won't hear from the mods very often. :D

Just need more SS folk with animals over at BYH with an organic, self sustaining mindset and the playing field becomes leveled because of numbers. I see that change in balance at BYH happening already.
