I bought a jug of cider today from our favorite orchard. I knew from last year that they no longer pressed their own, but was under the assumption that it ALL had to pasteurized. NOT SO! Apparently Ohio or the Feds are allowing them to use UV radiation on it instead. I never thought ask the orchard folks if it could still be fermented like regular raw cider.

What do you folks think? Can you make hard cider after it has been irradiated with UV???

I'd say there is one way to find out. remove the top and let it sit out....That's what we used to do way back when I was a teenager :p

Might just give that a try! If it "works", I am thinking I need to make me some Apple Jack!! ;)
