finishing a scarf?

I am knitting my first scarf. It is, therefore, just knits. About 6 inches wide. Nice fluffy yarn on big needles lol.

How do you finish them off? I think you get a crochet hook and do something to close off the ends I don't really like fringe. Is there anything else to do to make the ends pretty?

Anyway, it will be super warm. I like scarves I can snuggle into during the winter when all out sector gets terrifying. I think I have enough left to make little glovelets. I have a round knitting loom that auntie gave me

So I guess you need to be making youtube videos, teaching the new craze, abifae knitting! There are many ways to cast on and cast off, so find one that works for you. If you've made a scarf that you like....well, that is all that matters, right?

This all sounds like Greek to me, but i have a deep appreciation of hand knit and hand woven or crocheted garments and hand-made clothing. All i know is how to darn my socks or patch holes in my blue jeans. But i respect the finer points of quilting and knitting. Garment making is a fine art that needs to be preserved and improved upon. Fiber spinning, loom weaving, basketry, there are so many aspects of self sufficiency that transcend survival, and move into the world of fine art. I've seen handmade objects that i would pay a fortune for if i had it, or trade an eyetooth if the artist was collecting eyeteeth.
