Flat Screen TVs

I think you're lucky that it still works then. Ours started acting as if it was on its last breath about 6 or 7 years ago but valiantly hung on this long.

In my country you could buy a descent working second hand TV. So when that happened then I would just buy a second hand.

It truly takes a bit of brain stretching for me to try to conjure where technology is going with tv. As the sets become thinner (but the screens grwo wider) have we seen the end of the beloved wood consoles (or will they become a custom project, more or less like a frame)?

Those things are from the 70’s. I doubt that any TV from that generation would still be working up to now.

My opinion would be that we've seen the end of them except for the custom made things you already mentioned. As far as the wider screens go, have you noticed that the bigger they get, the LESS clear they are?

I think I'll be doing some research before I get the next generation. I'm not clear of plasma vs. LCD, etc.

I have noticed some "bleeding" of colors on a large screen TV, but I'm not sure if that's from the TV or the transmission.

My sister recently got one of the really huge screens... not sure of the size and I didn't ask... but after we all saw it and were on the way home, we all agreed that we'd noticed the picture wasn't as clear as we'd expected.

I think there's a certain size that looks good and anything above it needs more technology.

With the digital switch on the way and our old tv's dying off one by one, we went with the flat panels.

Best decision we ever made. Discovery specials look so much better on them!

Our old TV is also bleeding but it is still working fine up to now. If only I have the money then I would buy an LCD TV. I heard that the price is lower right now.

I've noticed that the prices have gone down, too. Even lower than when we
bought ours about six weeks ago or so!

I’m hoping that by the time I got the money then the price would be lower so that I could buy a DVD from the excess money.
