Food prices June 2021

So used this mornings milk to make yogurt. First time I've used this yogurt maker, bought used 5/2018. 🤣 Like new, whoever donated to habitat didn't use it much either. But I had bought enzymes last yr, so pulled some from freezer & we're doing it.

I'll report results tomorrow

The canned green beans are .76 a can now.

.50 january, .68 march.
And just one little item!! 50% increase.

Big gov saying just 5-10% for most groceries. That's BS.

It's why food banks are swamped. Add these crazy cuts to funding & jobs -- I see a lot of trouble for people 🥴 it's not just meat & eggs!!!

i never had to buy a starter since i always had yogurt in the fridge. i'm hoping it turns out great. :)

i used to have this big computer monitor that had enough mass that i could put two quarts of yogurt on top of it to ferment and it kept them at the perfect temperature. made hundreds of quarts on it - gladly never spilled any on it... that'd been a mess...

Most store brands have additives now. Thickeners, preservatives, flavoring, colors, etc. some of this batch can be used as starter -- if I want to make more. I've used the couple brands without & it was cow milk but, this was here. As was the goat milk. Best to use same type milk. We'll see if it's what people say 😊

Not food but the shampoo I use was $8 a bottle regular price last year. It's $16 now.

For over a year I've kept an old bottle and mix up a bit 50/50 with water every few days. Spreads easier so I use less. It's a trick used for shampooing dogs easier
Works well for me.

I dilute all my Dawn dish liquid, shampoos, etc. We never get just a couple drops at a time & it's a waste. Also, cut open tubes of ??? Always a lot in there when you think it's empty. It's $$$. I keep a few tubes of tomato paste concentrate on hand, big loss there if not cut open.

@CrealCritter looks like it's almost "cut & contribute" time 🥰. And summer cometh - cooler!
