Freezer burned chicken = jerky treats for the dogs?

I have a few chickens in the freezer...I noticed they are freezer burned....DANG! My little dogs love those chicken jerky treats one can buy at the store...but I was wondering..couldn't I just use this freezer burned chicken and dehydrate it for my little dogs?? Would the freezer burn make them sick??

Freezer burn is just where the water has been evaporated out of the meat do to the freezing process. It shouldn't hurt to feed it to your dogs. I'd cook it down, debone it, and add it to their dinner until it was all gone.

Yep my GD Loves chicken jerky as treats I make sure to put a little salt with the chicken while defrosting though so the chicken doesn't go bad during the dehydrating process or the time that I have it (doesn't last long though )

My dog would eat it just like that - defrosted of course.

You can most definately dehydrate it for you dogs........ they would love it I am sure. There are also plenty of people like myself, who you could find on craigslist who feed their dogs a RAW diet. I always take freezer burnt chicken, venison, beef, ect...... I have 4 dogs, all on a RAW diet and most of us are looking for free or cheap food for our dogs. Just make sure if your dehydrating or cooking the chicken, that the bones are out of it. Cooked bones splinter and can hurt your dog. Never feed your dog cooked bones.

Citylife....your sheppard is BEAUTIFULL!!! They are all pretty dogs,,,but wow I love that sheppard! I am waiting on this heat to break, before I get the chicken going. Excessive heat warning again for tomorrow. I am SO over this darned heat!!!!
