Mine is similar to this one. In fact, I'll probably go ahead and order an extra one to keep on hand. The one I have came with the staple remover tool also. There's a tiny learning curve. I missed on the first shot - only caught one side of the skin. The trick seems to be to pinch the skin up between your fingers and then pull the staple trigger. It was honestly very simple and easy. I had the teen girl next door hold the goat for me. She was a little unhappy about the cleaning procedure but hardly flinched at all with the actual stapling. Wound still looks good - no heat, no swelling, no discharge.

Grandkids have been here since Thursday. We've had a blast! There has been fishing, cooking, swimming, eating, karaoke-ing, Chinese buffet-ing and an epic Monopoly game! Very few farm chores have been accomplished. Too hot to do much anyway. Grandson helped me get the staples out of the doeling a couple days ago. I definitely appreciated the help a lot more than the goat did, lol!
I noticed a whiff of something familiar in the air recently. The does have started cycling and the bucks have started rutting...seems early but I guess not too early. I'm going to line up a few dates and try out having babies a couple months earlier than usual.
Need to go get some morning grub rustled up for these kiddos.

Bowling yesterday. I suck...
More fishing too. Grandson pulled the biggest bass out yesterday evening that we've seen yet. It doesn't look so much like a baby bass anymore. My hopes are up that in another year they will be impressive! With the high octane feed they're getting it's quite possible.

It was a great time. They left today and it's always hard to see them go. I miss 'em every minute of every day. GD is talking about moving down this way when she graduates next year. She'll either stay with DS and his wife or here. She'll probably choose them because not only are they younger (and NOT her grandparents, lol) but they have lots of toys.
DH had a cardiologist appt. He's doing really well. We went from check-ups every 3 months to every 6 months and today we graduated to every 9 months. He says DH is doing pretty well - all things considered.
Tomorrow, I need to start doing everything I neglected while playing with the kiddos.

Settling back into the "no kids in the house" routine. I've started DH (and myself) on a regular exercise routine. He won't do them without me - but they're good for me too. I only thought I was in good shape for an old, fat woman. We do them twice a day, but the one we've been doing more frequently is only 25 minutes including warm-up. We started a different one this morning that's 10 minutes longer. He mostly does his sitting in a chair while I do mine standing. This morning he tried doing some of the balance exercises standing up with his walker available for stability.
We're also doing some serious "planned eating." Smaller servings, and minimal carbs. We'll do a strict regimen for a couple of days and then have a day where we have more planned (high fiber type) carbs. It really helps his blood sugar and we've both dropped several lbs.
I'm reducing the goats feed a little this time of year. They're all pig fat except for one who had loosey-goosey bowels for a few days while weaning her doeling. She's dried up now (milk and poop) and is beginning to put weight back on. Time to check eyelids again and get 2nd round of vacs into the young 'uns. Always something to do...
Speaking of things to do - it's the time of year that I need to get the storm shed readied for whatever may show up. Bedding needs to be washed and floor needs a good sweeping. I need to get it back to a storm shed instead of a storage shed while hoping that we don't need it.
Everything else is basically status quo. It's summer. It's hot. We've had 4.5 inches of rain in the past week...so far. Ground is soaking it up well. Only standing water is at the gates. Ugh...
