As much as I'd like to get my fingers in the dirt and plant something, I'm going to spend the afternoon doing wood. They're calling for nasty weather on Wednesday, so I have no choice.

The little stinkers have imprinted on me and run to corner of their tote every time they hear my voice, lol. They've got their nice starter feed, but they're waaaay more interested in clover and chopped kale that I hand feed them. It's so funny to watch 'em try to scarf down their greens. And, messy, messy, messy. I keep finding them standing in their water bowl... not such a big surprise since they are waterfowl - but I was hoping they'd give me a couple days before they started sloshing and slinging water everywhere. I just loooooooooooove dem babies!
I WAS going to take today off and spend it in the garden, but we're sposed to be down in the 30's again this week, so I'm gonna hold off on planting....
I'm soooooooooo ready, but I can't see wasting seeds. So, I guess I'll go on to work. Since I worked 8 hours Saturday I get 1.5 times in comp time. Yay! Twelve hours of paid time off. I'm taking 4 hours today and will take the other eight later. AND - next week is spring break! Yippee! I will plant, I will plant, I will plant over spring break - I will - I swear!

Ehhhh .. just an ok day. We found out at work today that our program is getting a 5% budget cut because of the sequester. It won't go into effect until later this year, but it's a shame it'll take some services away from students who really need what our program offers. We'll figure it out and we'll keep going. They can't keep a good program down!
Ok - off my soap box. Maybe... I'm feeling a little confrontational tonight. Soooo out of character for me. But, I feel the need to butt heads with people, lol. I think it has something to do with the school board meeting I just came home from. Geeze... people! Sometimes they just exhaust me.
Just a few more days for one of the pigsters. One of 'em has his final day on Saturday. We'll do the other one when I get the first one out of the way - no idea how long that will take me. We're going to do this one ourselves, and then decide if we should take the other one in for professional treatment, lol.

I heard this message on my Christian radio station this morning. How appropriate! I will certainly try to keep it in my heart.
Nails in the Fence
There once was a little boy who had a bad temper. His father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer a nail into the back of the fence. The first day the boy had driven 37 nails into the fence. Over the next few weeks, as he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammered daily gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence.
Finally the day came when the boy didnt lose his temper at all. He told his father about it and the father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper. The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone.
The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence. He said, You have done well, my son, but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same. When you say things in anger, they leave a scar just like this one. You can put a knife in a man and draw it out. It wont matter how many times you say Im sorry, the wound is still there.
I try very hard in my life to treat folks with respect. I do have a problem however, when I feel somone has been treated unfairly. I have a tendency to want to stick up for them whether they need my help or not.
I come on this forum because I enjoy it. I feel comfortable here. I respect and care for many people here. What I don't do is worry about my spelling or my grammar or my punctuation. Friends don't care about that!

Great message! I come here when I get frustrated too, rather than being a jerk when I feel like it 
I also feel the need to defend other people...and that has gotten me in SOOOOOOOOOOO much trouble 
Even online. And it may have had a tiny bit to do with getting fired from a job or two in the past...I am BAD about that

Me tooooooooo!
I've been browsing a little bit today looking for simple sausage recipes. I'd like to try my hand at some sausage making. I've never made link sausage before, don't have a smokehouse and am hoping someone will tell me it's not really that hard. Somebody?
My neighbor, who is going to help us with the butchering, has a grinder/stuffer. At least we've got the equipment. Guess I'll need some casings. I should probably get online and order some, huh?
Maybe I'll chicken out and make pan sausage. We love it too, but not as much as links. But, at least I've made that before.
I've finally made my decision on which pigger to 'do' first. It's going to be the white-footed one. He seems to tippy-toe and stumble a bit lately. I think it's just because the ground is so rough and unlevel, but I don't want to take any chances that he'll break down on me. Because of that, he's number 1 on the 'hit' list, even though he's my absolute favorite. He has a much friendler disposition than the other one, but I can't eat disposition! I hope to have him all taken care of in a few days so that we can do pig #2 the following weekend.
If pig #1 is a horrible/terrible experience there is the distinct possibility that I won't even want to do the other one, lol. However, I must! I can't have a 600 lb pasture ornament waddling around out there. That's sort of the reason I'm doing the nice one first. I don't like the other one enough to let him have a pass, lol!
