Frustratedearthmother's Journaling Journey

You wanna hear about a feed bill? Try $400 + a month and that's with me cutting down! See why I needa sell more goats?! I thought I was doing pretty good lately - only about 75 a week...but I need to get all the extras next week... the beet pulp...the calf manna...kelp...and since I've got baby pigs...pig food.
:thi was doing $300 a month with the rabbits and i just couldn't anymore so they are gone... The goats, in summer, don't get too many extras so it's about $12 a bag a grain a week some times 10 days (for all goats) and then my only goat who is milking has a bag of grain i mix special for her when she's milked twice a day. That one is $19 a bag but lasts 2+ weeks for her as it's added to the other stuff. Now we have chicks.... So they get their starter mix too. But i only want mine to have the extras in winter this year or they get too fat for breeding is what i think happened last year to my other three....:idunno

Holy cow how many rabbits did you have? I just cut way back on the amount I'm feeding my goats because they were getting pudgy! They get alfalfa pellets and a lower protein grain mix (dry does), because my hay isn't very high quality. My chickens are free ranging and hardly eat anything this time of year. It's the pigs and the dogs that are killing the wallet right now.

Hope this mess dries up by tomorrow - not likely, but...

I neeeeeds to get feed tomorrow. My truck has a bed cover, but do you think it's water proof like it was advertised to be? Nope. But, we need to adjust it. When it's adjusted and tightened down really good it keeps the water out.... shift a quarter inch - wet bed - which means wet feed - which means money down the drain. Can't afford that!

I used to tote a LOT of feed in my suv, lol. But I do have a big ol' back seat in my truck that'll do just fine if need be.
