we didn't have much rain at all for the past few months. so i'm glad it has come back in time to soften up some gardens i could barely get a shovel into - it made the past few weeks much easier on my feet and legs to not have to jump up into the air and come down on the shovel.

and a big whomping yes to dirt therapy too! i was getting pretty upset last week about some things but after a few days in the gardens i got all that worked out and feel much better.
 
Up and at 'em at 5am this morning! Whoo Hoo!

No wait - that's a lie, lol. I'm up - but I'm not at anything except coffee! There's not enough coffee in the world to work on this deep fatigue I'm feeling these days. Nothing to do but keep on pushing. This too will pass.

We have rain in the forecast finally. Smallish chance today but goes up tomorrow and Thursday. I need to get out there and move a round bale this morning. I'll scrape out the old stuff and set a new one in place. Goats have been turning up their nose at the bottom of the bale that's there now. I opened the panels last night so they could get in there and glean as much as they want until I get the new one ready to go.

Still waiting on the new Physical Therapy group to reach out to DH for an evaluation. Docs office sent orders over last week and we've yet to hear from them. If they don't get their stuff together and set something up they might lose a customer here. I can put DH through his paces. I don't really want to - it intrudes on the husband/wife relationship, lol. I'm not nearly as patient as the therapists are!

Listed some goats for sale and only sold one. Lots of interest at first, but mostly just tire-kickers. Thank goodness the buck is what sold first. The girls I can keep a lot easier than keeping an extra buck and needing a place to put him.

Hope to get a little more done in the garden today. Don't have a lot left to do - just need to get after it.

There are "cheeps" coming from my dining room in the general vicinity of the incubator. Quail started hatching yesterday. Silkie eggs are due today and this morning there are 2 that have escaped their eggfinement. Twelve developed, but most have pretty wonky air cells. I'd hate to just hatch 2 - but it's better than one. One chick is a pretty lonely critter.

I feel another cuppa coming on.

Woke up at 3am to DH's high blood sugar alarm going off. I spent about an hour and a half headed in the right direction after I gave him a bolus. Thought I could go right back to sleep. Nope! DH needed bathroom time, lol. I did squeak out another hour between 5 and 6, but woke up and started thinking about how good a cup of coffee would be and gave up on sleep. Coffee is good - but I'm thinking I shoulda tried to stay horizontal for another hour or so.

He has a doc appt this afternoon with his primary care. I don't even know why...just a follow up I guess. I'm tired of it! Our fave Mexican restaurant is close to the doc office so I'm not planning on cooking dinner! We'll head there after the appt for an early dinner (or late lunch).

Still haven't heard from the Physical Therapy group.

Got a new round bale set yesterday. Goats loved me lots after that, lol. Worked on the hoop house after that, but wasn't having much success with all the wind yesterday.

Whoop, whoop! I saw baby collards popping through yesterday. Happy about that! Got another two tubs of potatoes planted also. Waiting to see if the peas will sprout. Seeds are a couple years old, but I've planted older so I'm thinking positively that they'll do well.

Thought I had a customer coming to look at a couple young does yesterday. We exchanged at least 6 emails and he said he wanted to come see them. I sent the address and my phone number and "poof" he disappeared. I told him that yesterday would work for a showing, but that we'd be out today. Now I'm worried that he knows we'll be gone today and has my address. Aargh! What was I thinking? From now on I'll only give my address to someone after I have their phone number. Today I'll trust my LGD girls to do their job! I don't think too many people would try to get into my pasture with 2 120+ lbs of pi$$ed off Anatolians giving them the stink eye, lol!
 
I’ve done that same thing before, and not getting their phone number. Just gotta trust your dogs!

Hope the doctor appointment goes well.

I set 2 round bales yesterday. Going to dry lot the sheep. Even with rain, the summer grass is dormant and the winter grass hasn’t peeped its first leaf out. If it did, the sheep would annihilate it. Have 2 groups of pregnant ewes.

Those preggers have cravings :lol: fresh grass addicts. 38 of them here...about the size of your herd. We're nutso. All our resources goes to feed. I'm already thinking -- WHAT am I going to do when 60 kids get here??? That's a LOT of babes.
 
I have no fresh grass. If I don’t get them off the fields, they will kill the grass and there won’t be any next year. I’ve been busy the past few weeks doing for other people, I’ve got to take care of my own place now. I have 26 bred ewes and 7 youngsters from the spring lambing.

Woo hoo! You have more than I do, lol. I have 24 and have out the "for sale" sign for at least 4 more. Wanna get those numbers down! My feed bill is ridiculous, but I consider the goats my indulgence.

I have tons of grass, but I rarely let them out on it. I'm skeered to death of parasites! However, I've been letting them enjoy a couple hours in the afternoon when the grass is dry. I like to think it saves a little hay.

I've been trying to do some research on Livamol with Bioworma. It is a feed through that has a fungus in it that consumes worm larvae. Might try it in the spring.

At this point I'll try just about anything.
 
Wow. Sounds good. Any idea of cost & availability? This is first I've heard of it. But Australia is pretty on top of animal health.

ETA....ok, WOWSER on $$$. But worth not losing animals. However, $1 per day, per animal (30 head) is $900 a month. Most effectively, treat just as spring grasses are beginning and pasture would be lowest from winter kill. It's still a huge cost.
