On a more positive note - DH got outside for a walk twice yesterday. He NEEEEEDS to walk before his body forgets how! He is a little wobbly, but he did it. He won't build up strength again until he does physical activity. By his own admission - he's lazy, lol. He'd rather sit in a chair and be waited on all day. I'm not doing that anymore unless he's having a terrible day. It's for his own good, right?

Thankfully his blood sugar behaved last night and I got some decent sleep. He's still in bed but I don't begrudge him a few more hours of sleep. Sleep is restorative - sleep is healing. But, there is a limit to what is healthy. He's been in bed more than 12 hours now so he's about to get a "request" to get out of bed and downstairs.

I've been out and have basic morning chores finished. While I was out I cut the runners for the chicken tractor and they're ready to attach. I plan to make it easy on myself and use zip ties to attach. Simple but effective. I need to get a waterer/feeder ready to go in and some sort of nest box. They're not laying yet but gotta get ready. They're only about a month younger than the pullet that started laying already.

I have time to do that before the game at noon! Whoop - go Texans!

Long busy day - but a good one. Texans WON!!!! And they won with authority, lol!

Texans 44
Ravens 10

I was busy both before and after the game. The chicken tractor is done and has chickens in it. Only two of the three because one of 'em is being wily...silly gal. I hope I can find her before full-on dark.

Got the trio of Barred Rocks locked in a pen under the big shed so hopefully, they will learn to roost there. Time will tell, I guess. I don't want to keep them caged for any longer than necessary. I want them to free range. Pens are only for the silkies.

Had to work on the pen that the pigs are in too. If there's a weak area in a fence - a darn pig will find it. However, I couldn't find it so I had to sit and watch. Wouldn't have thought they could get out where they did - but they did. Now they can't. Slowly but surely getting things taken care of around here. I need cooler weather - I work well in less than 100-degree heat. Thankfully we are done with that even though our temps are still above normal.

I managed to give copper boluses to most of the does. It's that time of year. Some worm meds for the ones with pale membranes too. Most of the gals are looking pretty good right now. A couple of the older ones could use some more weight, but they're far from being emaciated.

Chicken soup for dinner. Worked up an appetite today!

Today was errand day. I hate running errands and that's all I'm going to say about that.

Grandson is coming next week and bringing his girlfriend! I'm excited! I've met her several times but have never spent more than a few minutes with her. I'm really looking forward to spending some time with her. They'll get here Monday and stay until Friday. Started clean-up duty today. Got the sheets off the beds in the two guest rooms and have them laundered. Probably need to do a little dusting and run the vacuum up there. I'll remake the beds tomorrow. Need to work on the clutter in the breezeway - but actually started that a couple days ago. Not a whole bunch of stuff to do - normal tidying up. Have a few science projects in the fridge to dispose of. Worked on the extra fridge in the breezeway last week.

Started grabbing special grandkid foodstuff on the shopping trip today. I'll work on a menu this week and probably shop at least once more before they get here.

Neighbor girl is showing her goats in the county fair next Monday. She's already told me that she expects me to be there to watch, lol. I really want to but it's the same day DGS gets here. I think she shows in the morning so maybe I can do that before the grands arrive. A trip to the fair might be something the grands would enjoy. Crowded, noisy, with the smell of animal crap and corndogs wafting through the air - what's not to love, lol!
