Hello,

I am selling medieval board games, particularly Hnefatalf (and its variants) and Morris boards (3,6,9,and/or 12).

Boards are hand embroidered on linen with wool backing. Two sided version (linen on both sides no wool backing) is available upon request with Hnefatafl on one side and Morris board on the other.

Hnefatafl can come in 7X7 9X9 or 11X11 board sizes.

Custom colours are available, as well as custom embellishments some additional costs may be added, but all additional costs will be discussed before we begin the project. The pieces are glass beads and can be omitted to save on shipping. Guaranteed no extra cost of in stock materials, but in stock materials are subject to change without notice PM to double check if you want a specific colour selection.

Costs:

$20 per side for game boards
+$5 if backing is required (no backing required if you want a double sided game board)
+$5 for matching glass men (optional, if you wish to reduce the shipping costs you can leave this out and source your own men)

Breaks down to $30 for full one sided board $45 for doublesided board.

Shipping to US is usually about $10 for boards with men PM with address for specific shipping estimate.

PM me for pictures of some of the boards we have made and additional details

To give some background on the games.

Viking gentlemen were required to know nine skills, Runes, Book reading, Smithing, Skiing, Shooting, rowing, two arts, and playing tafl or board games. Knefatafl or Kings Board is commonly called Viking Chess. It is a simple trap and capture game quick play, rarely does a game last more than 20 minutes. The game dates from at least 400AD but probably goes back further, Vikings took it with them all throughout Europe and Britain and the game quickly spread with variants popping up all over the world. The game Fox and Geese is a latter developed variant of the game.

For game collectors a detailed history can be provided.

Hope to get some pics posted ASAP... but ya the game is a blast. Really simple to learn, but somewhat complex to explain.

There are two sides the defenders and the attackers, the defenders have less men, but the game is actually wieghted in their favour, it is really hard to win playing the attackers.

We have a variety of other medieval games and toys in the works too. Including medieval badminton set, wooden game boards, stoolball (medieval baseball) equipment and much more.
