I'm taking the kids out to glean a field for the food bank. Today it's beefsteak tomatoes. We can take as much as we want, too. I'm so new to canning, I'm not sure if I can can these. Can I? What can I do with them? Or rather what would you do with beefsteak tomatoes?

You can can up any tomato and it sounds like you hit the jackpot! I like to eat beefsteaks on a sandwich but that doesn't help in your situation. :p

Juice them, sauce them, puree them, salsa, paste, etc. There are other tomatoes more suited for some of these endeavors but they all taste like tomatoes, so go for it! :)

Beefsteaks are all one of my BF's mom canned. They fill up jars real quick.

I can all my tomatoes, doesn't matter what it is. I find the easiest is to just chop them up, skin and all and simmer them for a few minutes, until heated through; then I hot water process them.
You can make anything tomato related out of them. They just are bigger and have more juice.
Go ahead and take advantage of this great opportunity.
