Sounds like a place we looked at. It was being rented when we looked at it and the renters had taken out a wall to get a woodstove in there.. well it was a supporting wall lol.

I live in one of those houses thats in disrepair, the bathroom is kind of rotted, the living room is just ugh.. old plywood wall board over crumbling plaster walls and a plywood floor, and the fugliest most structurly UNSOUND window on the planet. Our upstairs/bedrooms are pretty good though and had some repair work done to them before we moved here.

There really is a fine line between saveable DIY houses and total write-offs IMO. Keep searching though!

KEEP LOOKING!!! I looked for my farm-ette for 12 years. I had very specific requirements, and the Lord found me the perfect place. It wouldn't be perfect for everyone, though, and I work hard to keep my neighbors happy, though I don't have big neighbor problems. I saw a number of "stinker" properties, but it was worth the time spent. I can see now that they wouldn't have worked for me. I'll be praying for your effort!!

Yeah, I'm not sure about that either. His impression was, since had an engineer out there, and it was said to be easily fixable (for a sum of money and effort), so maybe he thought, since it was easily fixable, it wasn't an issue? Who knows. If there was really nothing much more worng with the house, we might have considered it even with the foundation, but after it all added up, it was too much.

One place I looked at had a house with a 2nd floor that rocked--NO KIDDING, and a barn with baseball sized holes in the roof. The real estate agent tried to tell me that the holes would swell when it rained and the roof would keep the barn dry that way. (She was fired.)

lol.... roof swells...

We looked at one that had no bathroom floor... when you opened the door to the 'bathroom' it was a giant gaping hole into the basement and some pipes sticking out of the wall... and the plus from the real estate agent was that the house came with a bathtub (it was in the barn, 200 feet from the house... )
