Depends on if you water. Your weather in Texas is different from what I know from eastern Oregon/Washington.

With irrigation, many plants do well depending on climate.

They dryland wheat farm in the high desert here with 9 inches annual rainfall. Fall plant because most of the rain is in winter as ice/snow.

a tough area.

i'd go with desert compatible landscaping that requires no watering other than the first few shots to get any plants established.

what is your water situation like? well or city water or ?

Yes, I have both, city and well.
