Good trade? *Update*

Or if you know he'll still have his sheep a year from now, wait until then for the ram. Unless you're going to breed your ewes as lambs! Sounds like a great trade though! :)

We don't want to house a buck goat, so I'm thinking hubster won't want a ram around here either. I'll just go with the ewes, and see what I can find when they come of age. Less feed, less faces in my face  Guess I was just thinking out loud. :P

But are rams as stinky as bucks???? That'd be a deal breaker....
No way, Jose! They just have a slight rammy scent upclose, near their faces. I like the way they smell. :)

Our ram does not smell bad, but I think you are right to go with ewes and borrow a ram when you are ready to breed. Ours is a P.I.T.A. and where our sheep cycle monthly he has to be penned separate in order to not have lambs on the ground every 5 months and give the ewes bodies a break and breed when we plan not him

Sounds like a great deal to me! I'd try to get a ram too. If I was ever to want sheep again. :P Ugh!

I have a ram I'd like to get rid of. (But then again, it's a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab. :hide)

 Deb! If the rams aren'tas stinky as a buck.....I may be able to swing it. I'd like to have some offspring, and maybe some milk :hu Is their gestation the same or about the same as goats?I'll have to look that up. The only issue would be keeping the ram seperated, but I have enough lumber leftover from the goat shed I could probably swing it fairly easily.

I'm on the fence on that one. :/ What would you sheep people do? Worth it to house a male on site?
