Does anyone know how to take two pictures and "overlay" one on top of the other so you can still see the picture in the background. I have GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) running on Linux. Trying to make up wine bottle labels.

Thanks

Pretty easy coming up with something in GIMP.

What do you all think? Acceptable?

Now that I got a basic understanding of GIMP I'm going to do the rest of my labels. GIMP is very powerful. I really like the gradient, blur, smudge and airbrush functions. I think this strawberry label came out better than the blueberry.

Those are really pretty. It would be so nice to see bottles with those nice labels on your shelves, instead of a plain white label that says "WINE"

Each of my daughters and daughter in laws are getting a case of assorted fruit wine for Christmas. So I want the bottles to be some what presentable. I'm giving these labels my best shot.

Here's the Blackberry label. Meh... I might sharpen up the berries a little more IDK... Its one of those things you could spend a lot of time on tweaking.

Test printing on regular computer paper first before printing on label paper. The paper label is stuck on by bottle condensation kind of, so there's some water marks showing. But what you think of 3.75" x 4.75 label size, OK?

Wow!Those are beautiful!

I kind of like the way they turned out.

I saved the hardest for last, since I'm a newbie to GIMP. But it's turning out to be the best yet.

Sassafras is quite a challenge. I mean you can't just paint a tree root, so I decided on a branch tip with leaves and berries and call it Root Wine.

I still have quite a bit of touch up left to do on this one and just noticed I spelled sassafras wrong, I added an extra s.

Did you know that a sassafras tree has three different shaped leaves :th

My wife came in the kitchen, when I was done labeling these and said "Hey you want to get drunk and run around in the back naked". I said sure. Then she said "yeah right, not happening". Well dang!!!
