Thanks for sharing such a useful book link! So appropriate for a SS site and illustrations are always such a plus.
We have a few of the homemade implements already, like the saw horse and level.
I'm going to have to get the more mechanically minded DH on here to have a look.
ETA: We had a neighbor with a small homemade forge on a tripod base. He would walk the railroads in the area, picking up coal and coke to fire his forge. He would pick up all iron, including iron from old telephone poles to work into parts for his and customer's tractors.
