We are getting back into the routine of real life. My daughter had her last followup appt today and was cleared for all activities and doesn't need to cover the incision anymore. Thanks for the prayers!

Now for questions!

We were given a baby bunny a couple of days ago. Cute little thing! It is the baby of a couple of runaways at my friends small farm. It was cornered by a cat and rescued without any obvious injuries. After a couple of days of observation, my friend called me to see if we wanted it.

We did (fuzzy-little-organic-manure-maker is his middle name). When I brought him home, we noticed his eye was gummed close. The other one was normal. I cleaned it as best as I could. There was a thick, furry snarl that did not come off and I was afraid of rubbing his eyelid too much and making it sore. I applied anti-biotic vaseline cream. The next morning, I cleaned again, applied the cream, and then researched.

I found that they often get conjunctivitis. I bought some Similisan Pink-Eye drops (they are homeopathic and for human use). Would those be ok to use on the bunny? Should I combine it with the antibiotic cream? Can the children get conjunctivitis from the bunny (they do wash before and after holding any animal, but I would like to know if it's passable).

I found seedings in my garden! At least 8 spinach, 10-12 lettuce and a very few carrots. Most of the garden is still without life, but I'll take what I can get!

Hanna, you might want to check over on Backyard Herds. I personally wouldn't let the kids rub their faces on the bunny, just to be safe.

Hello, hello, Everyone! I have not been here in a while!

We are fully recovered from my daughter's surgery. We have added another rabbit to our family for manure.

The garden is producing some lettuce for us. Carrots are growing.

We've gotten our chicks!!!

We are building a beautiful coop.

Spring is just around the corner and I am very much looking forward to it!

Hello again! I just wanted to pop in and update. Our chicks have grown fast....they began producing eggs last month. This month I had a visit from code enforcement. I am now working with my city councilmen to get hens on the 'allowable animal' list. Apparently only cats and dogs are allowed in city limits. I have the full story over on BYC in the local codes and ordinances area. Canning has been going full steam. (hahaha) I am out of propane at the moment, so it's water bath only for a time. I eagerly look forward to the farmer's market each week. They only thing that grew in our garden this year was the tomatoes. When the weather cools a bit I will plants peas, lettuce, carrots and many a few more things.

Hi there. I had lots of things grow in my garden this year, EXCEPT beans and tomatoes. What few tomatoes are on my 30+ plants, at least 2/3 have blossom end rot. I'm in Murphys, and get the heat sometimes more than the Central Valley.
