Hatchery reviews

I believe my last order from Cackle left on a Mon night or Tues AM, and I got them on a Fri. Way too long to be in transit. I consider PND to be well worth the purchase price, and won't start chicks (even broody chicks) without it. I also put my flock on multi-vits for a few weeks if I anticipate collecting hatching eggs.

Even feeds at TSC are a joke here. I sometimes see those Egyptian grain moths flying about, and have seen feed sitting on the shelves that is 3 months old.

I always mail order my chicks from Ideal.
I have only had one oops rooster.

I do know that Ideal's hatch day is on a Wednesday and they ship Wednesday afternoon. Being in Texas I always receive my orders Thursday morning.

The last that I read was that they hatch M - W through ?May, then only on W? I think if I caught them at the right time of the year, I might have success. Really, I'm just about as far away as one can be from just about all of the hatcheries. and the rural nature of our state makes it even more problematic. The closest USPS sorting center was only 8 miles away. Now, the closest sorting center is more than an hour away.
