I saw this on an old TV show I was watching the other day and wondered if anyone has ever heard of this, or tried it.

For a headache that won't go away and responds to nothing else, take a piece of brown paper and soak it in vinegar. Then, put it on your forehead.

Supposedly, in just a short period of time, your headache will be gone.

I've heard of hot water and ACV as a steam treatment to cure a headache, so it might not be far off.

I think that's just a "here you go now shut up and quit complaining" remedy. Jack and Jill went up the hill.....patched it with vinegar and brown paper....ring any bells?

Huh, never heard of that. I'd try peppermint or wintergreen essential oil first, on the roof of my mouth if I had to.
Heck, if I have a head ache that won't go away, I'll try just about anything!! I don't think it would hurt anyway...

I remember hearing something like that from when I was a kid. Never thought about it, though.
hmmmmmmmmmm okay, I'm game, I'll give it a shot next time I get a headache and report back.

There are so many types/causes of headaches - allergy, sinus, migraine, tension, living my life sometimes... I know first hand how vinegar can relieve pain, so who knows?

Every once in awhile, I'll get a headache that won't quit for a couple of days. I'm willing to try it as well. Right now, I'm out of vinegar so I can't try it. I forgot to get it when I went shopping last week.

I have heard to put the inside of a bananna peel on your forehead. I have never tried it cause I hate everything about banannas. They stink, are mushy and taste nasty. :tongue It's all I can do to carry the peeling to the chickens after DH eats a bananna.

I suffer from tension headaches and from migraines and the only thing so far for me, that works like a miracle is Butterburr or Petadolex(that is the latin name) for me it is a true miracle as in it will make a migraine stop and not get any worse and start to go away after it starts! while it is expensive I have had tension headaches and it worked for that too for me.. the only thing it hasn't helped much with is a really bad sinus headache and only sudifed(the real stuff I get carded for to buy) works for those.
and not that I am a huge party gal ;) I have over indulged before drinking wise and it worked quite well on that headache too!:thumbsup
I did let my pain specialist know that it worked for me and without revealing who she said that she asked a couple of her other patients who had migraines if they would try it and get back to her and out of the bunch who tried it about 3/4ths of them said it really worked for them without the side effects of the big mega drugs that dont' work well and have such awful side effects.
but I always have vinegar and I may try it next time. they say the butterburr works by opening up blood vessels and relaxing blood vessel spasms(? not highly technical here just trying to explain as it was explained by dr to me)
I have to say that it may not work for everyone.. my cousin that gets migraines much worse than I do says that it does relieve the nausea and the vision problems she has and it does "tame" the pain a bit, it hasn't really stopped it outright so she has started trying it one a day to see if it will reduce the frequency of her attacks.
Oh I forgot one tiny thing- it makes your tinkle bright bright bright greenish neon yellow haha!
