well Tony got a giant package from United Healthcare

we "need" to do a physical with cholesterol count, BP, all that jazz....and if we don't....then the premium is increased by $10 per month. we have an option not to do this, but if we don't it is that automatic $10 extra...nice of them huh

and smokers are increased in prem. My increase for me is $13 per week cause I smoke. If I quit I have by July 15 to say I am smoke free.....well that doesn't bother me too much LOL

also-----this is the biggie-----and I am wondering if any of you have gotten this info yet----------

anyone who has "step" kids under their plan must take them off. Only legal kids are to be covered. No longer can you marry a woman and "just put" her and the kids under a family plan. You must be legally the parent.

and

Any married spouse who works and has insurance offered through their company, must come off the spouse's plan. If ins. is offered at their job, they will not cover that spouse. So that spouse is forced to take their own ins. offered thru their company--------well how many of us know there is one plan that is usually cheaper and better than others. I stopped working 5 years ago when Nicole was born, but my job offered ins. and it was very expensive and very cruddy coverage---it was a very small company and they provided best they could to offer some sort of coverage for people----I of course refused coverage and went under Tony....cause he had a huge corp and it was great ins.----but this new policy is if you have ins. offered at their job, they can not have the spouse's dependent coverage---even if better and cheaper

woof

just wondering if anyone heard this crappola---cause I just got the letter stating all this mess

oh edited to say---this package is big and complicated---Yup I am still reading...ugh

:duc Wow, that's pretty bad FC.

Hubby was informed at company meeting to expect at least a 30% cost increase and I don't know what "benefits" will be changed/reduced.

Does the information package indicate that these new rules are a result of ObamaCare? I'm pretty sure there are "new" things coming toward all of us in the next few years and we'll all be confused by it.

They figure since you HAVE to have insurance they can do whatever they want!
$13 a week! Wow! Those cigarettes just got even more expensive! Do you have to prove that you are no longer smoking or just say that you are no longer smoking? How do they prove if a long time smoker has quit or not? Or that a casual smoker is smoking?
I am surprised they did not require you and Nicole to go for a physical or they would increase your premiums.

I got a notice from my employer that they are starting a 3 step program in conjunction with our insurance. Step 1 is tests, blood pressure, blood test for diabetes, mammogram, pap, colonoscopy. Step 2 which will start next year, same tests plus stool sample, BMI, weight, exercise report, and diet report, if you smoke, you sign up for help to stop. Step 3 is same as Step 2 plus a Health coach. If you refuse, than your insurance will increase each year. Talk about health police. It doesn't matter if you already go to your doctor for the tests, they want a copy of the reports and they want you to see the health coach. :rant:somad I don't plan on playing along.:tongue

There was another thread going a few weeks ago about this very thing...At my workplace, where we have BCBS, you had to fill out a "health survey" last year or $50/mo would be deducted from your paycheck. (I was so irritated I waited until the last possible minute to do it; $50 is a lot of money to me.) This year, when you fill out the survey, if you don't admit to having all these blasted tests (BP, cholesterol, colonoscopy, etc) you get a nasty-gram from BCBS saying "you better or else". I know the next step will be doubling our premium if we don't get tested, or some other foolish thing. :barnie

We were told it would go up $10.00 a check which is about $260.00 for the year. I can handle $10 since our insurance is very reasonable. I'm not in to doing all those tests and it certainly isn't any of there business how much I weigh or how much I exercise.

wow WOW
$50 a month---mine says on $10 a month if I don't fill out the survey and take the tests

this is medical extortion point blank

yikes

I have no idea where this all is going to end...seriously...I see a collapse of this country and it ain't pretty lol

They actually test your blood for nicotine. If it pops hot, you will get charged.

I warned everyone stuff like this was going to happen.

I think my exact words were "If you think health care is expensive now, wait until it is 'free'."

You could challenge them on that depending on their wording. I am not a smoker, but I do use nicotine. Hence it would show up on such a test, but if their requirements state Smokers will be charged more - then they're up the creek without a paddle!

There are ways of getting nicotine without smoking - ask me, I tried em all :gig
