Help me identify this shrub!

This shrub grows along my road and I am going crazy trying to identify it! It's an unassuming and plain shrub about 6 feet tall, growing along the road at the edge of a forested area near a lake. The photo shows what I assume is a seed capsule or dried flower or fruit. It sort of reminds me of a pine cone, but is definitely not.
I've been trying for the whole summer to find anything on the internet about this mysterious plant. Any help would be great!
I live in northwest Wisconsin.

Both leaf and flower come up as Sweet Chestnut via Plantnet android application.
