She (my Mom) is an antique show promoter, has been for 30 years. She always allows a farmer's market to set up for free during the shows. The lady who sold goat's milk soap (she brought her goats for props and entertainment) sold out every day and had to go home each evening to bring back more soap! I always bought from her and gave the soaps as gifts for my good friends. She had a little "hand washing" stand with a pitcher of water and a big bowl so you could try out some of the soap. BIG HIT!!!

You soap sounds awesome...i would really like to attempt it but I have never done it before.
How about using some fresh rosemary in it for the green flecks and fragrance all i one shot? Maybe with a little lemon EO?

That's a cool idea, BBH. I am imagining an antique pitcher/basin set like people once used to wash up in their bedrooms. That would be a neat thing to do.
I also like the idea of rosemary in the soap, although I would like to see how the nori looks, because you said it looked really interesting, HennyPenny.

I found someone else's gardener's soap . They used rosemary and mint (essence?), but they used cornmeal instead of poppy seeds. I definitely prefer the idea of poppy seeds.

Oh my, I get back to all these nice replies! I'm a bit sad, because the lady that started me thinking about gardener's soap isn't going to be at my work for a while because she just found out that she has cancer! I don't know what kind or what the prognosis is, but now I HAVE to make some to give her! And she says that she loves it, and always buys some any chance she can.
Drakemaiden- When some is ready, I'll send you some to try! I'd love for people to like my soap.
The only problem I can see is that it takes weeks for them to cure, I wish they could be ready sooner! But if they turn out I would love to sell some! Changing a hobby from a money sucking monster into a money maker?? Certainly! And wow, that soap you linked is $12?!
Here's some quick math. It's about how much of each ingredient I used, not the whole containers worth of it.
Olive oil: $5.00
Coconut oil: $3.00
Palm oil: $2.00 (I'm overestimating on this one, it's probably less)
Lye $5.00
Fragrance: $4.50 (I don't care, I just loved the smell!!)
Total: $19.50
That's 4.5 pounds worth of soap. I got 18 bars of soap, about 4 ounces each, which is the same as the soap in the link. So each bar cost me about $1.08. Not bad. And if this turns out, and I keep on making it, I can buy in larger amounts, to make it cheaper.

I think that site was based in NY. I would look around, if I were you, and see what an average price is for homemade soap. It would probably be hard to sell a lot of soap at $12 a bar, so you should consider that. You would probably get more takers at $3, but since it is gardener soap, I would think you might be able to get as much as $4-5. Anyone else want to speculate?
