Oh don't worry, it would be criminal to charge that much. Breaking even would be enough, since I actually like making it. Okay, well, a bit of spending money would be nice. And my work is back to not giving many hours, so I have plenty of time to read about soap and find yet ANOTHER kind I want to make.

Remember to pay yourself for your time! So I still think $3 is a more than reasonable price. Get to reading and see what else you can come up with! I know people just love anything with lavender in it . . . .

If I'm in this house long enough, I will have lots of lavender. There is a very established lavender plant that is about to bloom. I have nine lavender seedlings that I will plant when I finally move. And I want to plant different kinds of mint, which I bet I could dry and crush, and add to soap. And I think I can buy the poppy seeds in the bulk section of the grocery store. I also want to try a cucumber soap, with pureed cucumber to make it green! Ahh, the possibilities.

Haha, I kind of want to make some with Spirulina in it. More as a joke, because if my mom eats even a tiny amount she will throw up for hours! Okay, possibly it's an inside joke. She once had a sample of a "super" smoothie (the kind that are bright green) at Costco, and threw up a lot. We read ingredients more now. Oh, and she knew she reacts to Spirulina because once she bought the powder capsules. Oh boy, what a day!

Oh, and I also really like the idea of a basin to try the soaps out. Anything interactive is super fun, and good for people to test it out. Like if I ever made 100% Olive Oil soap. Some love it, and some find it slimy. Better to test first!

I guess I can see why you have an inside joke about it. Who knew that it could cause that sort of reaction? I'm not sure I'd want to be hanging around when you show your mom the spirulina soap. LOL

I have some lavender seedlings too that I need to get planted! I keep waiting for a nice cool day to transplant them. Ain't gonna happen.

We both have strange sense of humor. Some days she'll be in the middle of eating/drinking something and I'll pretend to examine the nutritional content on the label and exclaim, "Uh-oh, Spirulina!" But she's caught on now, and doesn't even bat an eye.

I wonder if I should try hot process soapmaking?!? Then you only need to let it sit for a week or two! But it's harder to do it this way, I guess? And will it destroy my crockpot? Can I still cook food in it?

I don't think I'll ever do the hot process, I'll probably end up hurting myself..

It would be great to make soap and make money off it! This Sunday my mom and I are going to see if we have time, and maybe we'll make some soap!!

I'm not a soapmaker, but my daughter is - she keeps all her soap making equipment separate from food equipment and never mixes them. So based on what she does, I wouldn't recommend using a soap crockpot for your ribs recipe......

Great looking soap.

I use those Gladware plastic black baking dishes for soap molds they work out great!

If you insulate the soap mold right after pouring (an old blanket or towels work well) and keep the soap hot for as long as possible you will achieve a better bar. I believe the top of yours is soda ash from cooling too quickly.

I too keep soap stuff separate from my food tools. I just use an old stockpot for making any re-batched or hand milled bars. But truthfully - I MUCH prefer the cold process soaps.

Farmfresh- After I poured it into the mold I covered it and wrapped it with a fleece blanket several times... The color is now all that light cream. Thanks for the tip, maybe I need a better cover or something.

Eh, the more I learn about hot process soap making, the less I want to do it. I don't want to buy another crock pot just for soap. So never mind.

You might be able to get one pretty inexpensively from a thrift or yard sale.
