This is a recipe I use for a 'gatorade' substitute. Not to drink all day, but before or after a work out.

1/4 c sugar
1/4 tsp salt (I use sea salt)
1/4 c hot water
1/4 c OJ (not concentrate)
2 Tbsp lemon juice
3 1/2 c cold water

1. In the bottom of a pitcher, dissolve sugar and salt in the hot water
2. Add juices and remaining water
3. Chill for 30 minutes

The best (most effective) electrolyte recipe is from WHO and UNICEF. It tastes like butt, but it sure works! Don't tweak the recipe, it's all about osmolality.

If you drink too much fluid without enough salt, you are risking hyponatremia or exacerbating heat collapse. Not enough salt and people start getting nauseated, fatigued, dizzy, and faint.
