Baking soda by itself tastes pretty nasty to most people. I don't mind it though. I just put a bit in my hand and dip the wet toothbrush into it and brush my teeth. Super easy.
Teeth feel great afterwards too.

I did the coconut oil and baking soda recipe.

I think I will keep using it. I did a small batch to see if I could get used to it. I think I did 2 T oil, 3 T soda?

And then I added a tiny bit of stevia and mint oil to see if I could get it to the point I could stand the taste. LOL. It helped a bit.

My son has braces and uses my homemade toothpaste no problem. I have it posted onhere somewhere. coconut oil, baking soda, wintergreen essential oil (or whatever flavour you like) and some stevia.

I don't have braces, but I agree, the coconut oil toothpaste is lovely (mine is just oil and baking soda).

But are you looking for perhaps a tooth powder?

I made tooth powder back in October and loved it. I didn't want to do mint cause it triggers heartburn for me, so I used baking soda, powdered stevia and some of the sweeter spices. No real recipe- just added stuff till it smelled really good. Added a bit more stevia when I tasted it.
I just had to make more in May and it seems to be working well.

1/2 cup melted coconut oil
1/2 cup baking soda
several drops stevia (to taste)
several drops your preference of essential oil (peppermint, wintergreen cinnamon) (to taste)
stir together until baking soda is blended with coconut oil. Allow to cool.

Not much is needed.

I store it in a container that I bought at the dollar store and use the end of a spoon to scoop some out.

just a few tips--after you have melted the oil and added the ingredients, put it in the fridge or freezaer to hurry up the hardening stage, BUT, while it is hardening, stir it on occassion or all the BS will sink to the bottom. Also, I am finding that in this summer heat, if the air condiditoning is not on, it will melt--stir before using for the same reason. Or keep it in the fridge.
