They are day old, just got the from McMurray Hatchery this morning. Jennifer from the post office called me laughing and said "your birds are here and boy do they want out!" at 7:30am. I loaded up the kids and went to get them, they are only a few minutes down the road. So cute. We ordered 1male chocolate, 3female chocolate, 2 straight run fawn & white, 3 female black, and 1 male black. They sent us an extra black male. So I have 11 little cutie pies in my kitchen! I have to keep a really close eye on the kids cause they want to "hug them, and squeeze them, and love them, and call them George"...to quote Bugs bunny!

(That is one of my favorite Bugs Bunny episodes!!! I have St. Bernards and they tend to "love" too hard, so we always say that!! They can't help it.)

I LOVE baby ducks!!!!! I just can't get over how cute they are!!! You and your children are soo lucky!!

Of all the animals I DID NOT want to raise, ducks were close to the top of the list. Then came I have five for you FREE if you want them.

Now I have ducks, and I LOVE them!!!! (I think once they start laying, I might even like them better than chickens, shhhhhh, don't tell!!!)

Can you sex them yourself by color or pattern? Or did the hatchery do it?
I have been thinking of getting some Runners.

Oh Yay!
I absolutely ADORE ducklings. Unfortunately my 4 did not work out as they were more than I bargained for. Much more demanding than the Mallards I grew up with and much less friendly. I could not last until they started laying...they had to go!

But they are super duper cute.
