Thank you, thank you! My guilt is now relieved. Seriously--I make EVERYthing from scratch but NOT cakes. I simply cannot make an edible from-scratch cake. A while back, someone on BYC posted a fail-proof from-scratch recipe that I intend to try some day, but until then...

My husband's cousin is a professional cake decorator and also uses boxes for all her cakes :) So, maybe all those added ingredients simply are necessary for such wonderful texture.

That's me and pie crusts. Don't tell me you have a fool proof recipe. I can NOT do it! I buy the premade ones. So there!:p

Actually, I do :) It's a no-roll, pat-in-the-pan pie crust and is absolutely awesome with whole-wheat flour. Here it is:

Whole-wheat, no-roll piecrust
1 cups flour (whole-wheat pastry flour best, whole-wheat flour okay)
1 tsp sugar
tsp salt
cup oil
3 tbsp milk

Place all ingredients in pie pan. Mix with fork until well blended and pat into the pan. Push pastry up the sides and form a nice edge with thumb and finger. Prick to avoid bubbling during baking.
